Square Foot Gardening 101. Based on the concept invented and made famous by Mel Bartholomew, this class will introduce you to Square Foot Gardening. It will provide an interactive and hands-on approach to setting up this small space, intensive growth approach. Grow more in less space! From building a raised bed, creating perfect soil, and planting seeds, you will leave knowing how to build your own SFG. Taught by Linna the Locavore, a certified Square Foot Garden teacher. $20/person. The All New Square Foot Garden Book and Cookbook will be available for sale at the class. For those that have some extra seeds, or would like to get some seeds, feel free to stay after the class for an informal SEED SWAP. Bring any extra seeds you have from last year and maybe you can pick up a few varieties to plant this year!

Advanced Square Food Gardening (Seed Timing ). This class will delve further into SFG techniques such as seed planning, planting times, crop selection for Virginia, hardening off and transplanting tips and tricks. The class will be hands on and the students will leave with a basic planting plan and checklist for seed/plant purchases. If you are already using the SFG method, or are interested in getting your timing down, this is a good class to help you maximize our garden. Taught by Linna the Locavore, a certified Square Foot Garden teacher. $20/person. The All New Square Foot Garden Book and Cookbook will be available for sale at the class.
